"I enjoy spending time with my patients more than anything else. It's rewarding to talk with them about their concerns and to reassure them that they will be okay. I really like working with those I call the "worried well," people who are not currently ill but have a family history of heart disease and want to make sure they are following preventative measures.
One of the nice things about cardiology is that there are so many things we can do for patients now, and many heart patients have a good outlook for recovery."

Galen D. Bernadt
Galen earned his degree from Bryan College of Health Sciences and became an RN in 2004. He began his career with Bryan Medical Center mental health services as part of the Adult Psychiatry team. From there he went to work with the Lancaster County Mental Health Crisis Center and eventually transitioned to the outpatient clinic of the Community Mental Health Center. In 2012, he returned to Bryan Medical Center and took a position with E.D. Connections and became manager of the program in 2013. The program is designed to help connect individuals to health care and mental health care resources in lieu of having to use the emergency department as their only access point to care.
In 2024 Galen received his masters degree in nursing, specializing as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. He achieved Board Certification and became licensed in the state of Nebraska.
Out of a desire to serve the rural communities in Southeast Nebraska where he grew up, Galen founded Broadway Behavioral Health in 2024 to provide dedicated, local behavioral and mental health services to this area.
We are currently scheduling patients with Galen the third Friday of each month. Please call 402-852-2231 to schedule your appointment.
